Esa made a strangled sound when he lowered his face and nuzzled her satin-covered breasts from the valley between them with his nose and lips.
“You’re so beautiful,” he praised before he peeled back the cup of her bra from one breast and pressed light kisses on the curving flesh. He slipped a stiffened nipple into his warm mouth at the same moment that he shaped her other breast to his palm. Esa whimpered in pleasure while he drew on her so sweetly, making the throb between her legs escalate to a stabbing ache of stark need.
“Oh God, Finn,” Esa groaned a moment later. Her hips shifted restlessly in his lap. His cock excited her almost unbearably as it pressed against her bottom, feeling large and deliciously erect. “Stop torturing me, please.”
His head came up slowly from where he’d been inflicting said torture on her helpless breast. Esa bit her lip to stifle a moan when she saw how erect he’d drawn the taut, glistening crest. She squirmed in his lap but he stilled her with a hand on her hip.
“I wasn’t torturing you, honey. I was in the process of making love to you.”
“I know,” she said shakily. Heat burned in her cheeks. “But Finn— Oh!”
Esa was temporarily left speechless at the sensation of him sliding his hand beneath her skirt and poking two long fingers beneath the elastic of her panties.
“How’s that? Does that help matters?” he asked. He watched her through narrowed eyelids as he glided and pressed against her most sensitive flesh. Esa just stared up at him in mute desire as his fingers moved so deftly between her thighs. “It does help, from the look of things. And the feel of them,” he added huskily. His nostrils flared in arousal. “You’re very wet, Esa. Are you that wet for me?”
A groan of sheer desire broke free from her throat. “Yes. You know I am. I told you how much I want you.”
“Enough to lie? Enough to pretend to be a wanton woman in order to have your sexual wishes fulfilled?”
“Oooh, yes!” she admitted. Her hips shifted up in hungry little gyrations against the erotic press of his fingers.
Finn smiled as he watched her, his expression tinged with wonder. “Maybe it wasn’t a lie. You really are the most exciting, uninhibited woman I’ve ever met. You’re like a package of dynamite. All I have to do is touch you and you’re sizzling.”
Esa grabbed at his shoulders desperately. Her eyes went wide. “Only for your touch, Finn,” she whispered. She clenched her eyelids shut and cried out sharply as she exploded.
“Are you okay to stand?” she heard Finn say a moment later. Her eyes blinked open when she registered how rough with desire his voice sounded. She nodded and stood up. He came up behind her, pressing his belly to her back. She bent over the desk and put her hands on it when he exerted a gentle pressure. A soft moan of awakened desire vibrated her throat when she felt his hands slide her panties down to her thighs.
“Spread your thighs,” he ordered tautly.
Esa stared sightlessly at the paper-strewn desk a moment later as Finn slid his cock into her. The sensation was so overwhelming, so powerful, that she began to tremble in uncontrollable excitement and raw need.
He must have sensed it because he paused and rubbed her hips, bottom and back soothingly. “Try to relax,” he whispered hoarsely.
But the last thing on Esa’s mind was relaxing as he resumed moving in her, his strokes long, sensual and slow. Much to her amazement she became aware that tears wetted her cheeks. He sank his flesh fully into hers and groaned.
The burn in her sex bordered on the untenable.
“God, you feel good,” he said in a half-crazed tone. He leaned over her. “Give me your mouth, honey.”
Esa twisted her neck and met him. Their tongues tangled erotically. His cock throbbed inside her, the sensation making her whimper into Finn’s mouth. He nipped at her lips with his front teeth.
“I’m glad you’re not a promiscuous sex kitten, Esa. It nearly drove me right over the edge to think of another man touching you.”
“There is no other man,” she whispered back. His eyes gleamed at her from the near darkness. He flexed his hips, stroking her with short, sensual thrusts.
“I like the sound of that.”
“I do too,” she said softly. “Oh Finn…I know I like the feel of that.”
He chuckled and then groaned, the noises barely audible between the increasingly frequent sound of flesh slapping against flesh. Esa pressed back with her hands and moved her hips in synchrony with Finn’s, craving the delicious friction that built and built and built until she thought she’d go mad from the intense pleasure.
“I can’t take any more,” Finn muttered wildly. His fingers found her clitoris. He rubbed as he crashed into her and growled like a feral animal.
“Oh…oh…oh, yes,” Esa cried out as she climaxed, bucking her hips wildly along the length of his cock.
Finn slapped her bottom in gentle reprimand with his palm before he stilled her frantic movements with both hands. He held her still, buried himself deep and roared as he came.
When their ragged, wild attempts to catch their breath had quieted to mere heavy pants Finn withdrew, sat down and pulled her into his lap. He nuzzled her neck while Esa stroked his soft hair and a feeling of sublime contentment and warmth weighted her limbs.
“I’m sorry for putting a halt to things that night on the phone,” Finn said quietly after a moment. “I was pretty…turned inside out because of the way I was feeling about you. I had myself half-convinced that it was just an infatuation following the breakup with Julia—sort of an emotional backlash. I wasn’t very trusting of my judgment when it came to women. I saw a really ugly side of Julia that night she stopped by my condo. It really increased my doubts about becoming involved with someone else so soon after the breakup. The fact that you’d lied just made things more convenient, easier for me to put the brakes on the whole thing.”
Esa leaned back and examined him when he trailed off. “Instead of facing the music about what was going on between us?”
He gave a slight grimace of acknowledgement.
“I understand,” Esa said. She nodded when his gaze flickered up to meet hers. “I’m the one who’s sorry, Finn. For so many things.”
When she saw his eyebrows rise expectantly she tried to explain.
“I was trying to convince myself of the unlikelihood of the possibility of anything significant happening between us as well. Not just because I’d lied to you either,” she said with a roll of her eyes. “I just didn’t think it was very likely that I felt this way about a guy I’d only known for a little over a week.”
He rubbed her hip. “We’ve got plenty of time ahead of us to quiet our concerns. We’ll go at a pace that’s comfortable for both of us, okay?”
“Okay,” Esa agreed shakily before she hugged him. She buried her face in his chest, feeling happier than she’d ever recalled being…and a bit silly besides, because tears filled her eyes just like they had when Finn had first entered her body earlier.
She went completely still as a thought struck her. She lifted her head.
“Finn, the rest of your crew, where did they go after you guys saw the ambulance to the ramp?”
“Most of them, including Jess, decided to try to get home taking the ‘L’. The CTA officials were letting them if they could prove that they were road construction workers and not abandoning their cars on the interstate. A few of them can’t get home using the ‘L’ though. They’re waiting in a truck outside.”
He saw her panicked expression.
“What? We were so loud,” she whispered in rising mortification. “They probably heard us making love. I didn’t even think to quiet myself while we were—”
She blushed hotly as she glanced over at the desk.
Finn laughed and tilted her chin until she buried her face in his chest again. “No reason to hide the truth from the rest of the world, honey. You are what you are. A wanton, uninhibited…damn sexy woman.”
She pressed her lips to
his fragrant skin. “Only for you,” she whispered.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Finn said, his deep voice rumbling from his chest straight to Esa’s widening smile.
Epilogue
Eight Months Later
“Uh. Uh. Uh,” Glory Madigan muttered appreciatively as she circled her soon-to-be granddaughter-in-law. Molly Madigan raised herself from off her knees and flared the hem of Esa’s ivory wedding dress over her shoes.
“She looks fantastic, doesn’t she?” Molly asked, her eyes running over every detail of the simple, elegant but nevertheless magnificent gown that she’d designed and created for Esa’s marriage to her son that weekend.
“She’ll be the sexiest bride I’ve ever seen,” Glory stated baldly. “It’s going to be the shortest wedding reception in history tomorrow night. Finn won’t be able to wait to get her into bed once he sees her in that dress, Molly.”
Esa grinned happily and ran her hands over the soft material at her hips. “You really think so, Glory?” she asked hopefully.
“I know so. Finn has his grandfather’s genes. Goes in for all the curves,” Glory said confidently as she swept her hand down her own glorious, statuesque figure. “Sean was half-wild to get me into bed on the night of our wedding. He offended my mother by making off with me to our hotel room after all the toasts were finished. She was furious that we didn’t cut the expensive cake she’d had made.”
“The cake I made wasn’t all that expensive but I do hope you and Finn will have some before Finn ‘makes off with you’.” Molly chuckled as she checked the seam at Esa’s waist. “Everything is perfect with the dress, Esa. Rachel is picking up the shoes this evening, isn’t she?”
“Yes, she’ll bring them to the rehearsal dinner toni—”
“Esa!” someone bellowed from Molly’s living room.
“Finn?” Esa shouted.
“Don’t you dare come in here, young man!” Glory shouted fiercely. “Esa is in her wedding dress.”
“Well, tell her to get out of it and come out here, quick. I’ve got a surprise,” Finn called, this time from the other side of Glory’s bedroom door.
Both Madigan women gave Esa a speculative look. Esa shrugged.
“At least it sounds like a good surprise. For a second I thought he was going to say that the deal for the new house fell through,” she said, referring to the bright, sunny townhouse they’d just purchased in Lincoln Park.
She snuck up behind Finn silently a few minutes later. He stared out the picture window in his mom’s living room. Esa’s gaze ran over him hungrily. The monumental lust for him that she’d felt from the very beginning had only grown exponentially over the past eight months. Her love for him magnified it until sometimes she was sure she couldn’t wait for her work day to be over so that she could attack him.
He wore a pair of casual cargo shorts that showed off his muscular calves, lean hips and tight butt. Esa reached out and palmed one of those delicious buns presently.
“Is this my surprise? If it is, I love it,” she teased as she squeezed the taut flesh.
He spun around.
“Hey…you just deprived me of my surprise!” she pouted.
His blue eyes gleamed with amusement. “You can have all you want of that here in a second. In fact, I’m counting on it,” Finn said before he kissed her all-too-briefly on the lips and grabbed her hand.
“Finn, we don’t have time to fool around,” Esa whispered as he pulled her toward the front door. “The rehearsal dinner is in less than two hours.”
“Plenty of time,” he assured her.
“But—” Esa stopped talking abruptly when a flash of red caught the corner of her eye. Her eyes went wide in admiration when she saw the shining red Dodge Viper sports car parked in the driveway.
“How do you like it?” Finn asked warmly.
“I love it.”
“Good. It’s your wedding present. From me.”
Esa gaped up at him. Tears swelled into her eyes. “You bought that car for me? Why?”
“Because I know how much you love to drive,” he said simply. He laughed softly when a tear skipped down her cheek. He stepped closer and wiped it off with gentle fingertips. “I think that’s when I first fell in love with you, when I saw your face lit by the dawn as you sped down Lake Shore Drive.”
“Finn—” She shook her head, too overwhelmed to speak for a moment. “I love you so much. Thank you. It’s the sweetest gift I’ve ever gotten,” Esa finally said brokenly.
“It wasn’t an entirely unselfish gift.” His eyebrows arched suggestively when she glanced up at him. “The completely finished new Dan Ryan expressway officially opens tomorrow. But for my bride-to-be…well, let’s just say it’s opened a little early.”
Esa just stared at him for a moment as love seemed to fill and vibrate in every cell in her body. She recalled how his gift of a wide open piece of road had struck her so poignantly almost nine months ago.
How could he have seen that passionate, vibrant side of her character so clearly when Esa had been so bent on denying it?
Her voice trembled with anticipation and excitement when she spoke. “Let’s go then, lover. I’m going to give you the ride of a lifetime.”
A small smile tugged at his shapely lips. “That’s what I was counting on, Esa.”
